Runa Rizvi Biography 
Runa Rizvi was born in Bombay to Indian singers Rajkumar Rizvi and Indrani Rizvi. She graduated from Mithibai College, Mumbai.Runa Rizvi, a serene and powerful voice in the world of music, is a Sufi, Ghazal & Fusion Artiste. Equally skilled in the contemporary Bollywood industry, Runa has worked with noted artists like AR Rahman, Sanjay Leela Bhansali & Sandesh Shandilya for mainstream projects.
The worthy daughter of Ghazal Maestro Ustad Rajkumar Rizvi & classical exponent Smt.Indrani Chatterjee Rizvi belongs to the Kalavant Gharana & is trained extensively in Indian classical music and elaborates to geners of Ghazals, Thumris, Sufiyana Kalam's, Folk & Fusion music. Her Love for Jazz can also be seen in her contemporay improvisations.
Performing since the age of 6, she has grown to be a true Versatile artist and a true Cosmopoltian in nature. Carrying the heritage of Ghazals ahead Runa finds her peace in Sufi kalams by sufi mystic poets. She tours and performs with her Band "NEW LIFE" with World renowned Drummer/Percussionist Sivamani & Keyboard & Pianist Wizard Stephen Devassy, World Music band with Prem Joshua, Soundz of India with Abhijeet Pohankar & Bandish Projekt. Her solo band SUFUSION is an extention of her own sound & music, a unique blend of Sufi music with Classical Fusion.
Winner of Idea BIg Rising Star Award, Runa has also been recognised as the young Maestro in Ghazal & Sufi by the Indian Music Academy in the presense of former President Sri Abdul Kalam. She has to her credit shared the stage with legends & exponents like Ustad Mehndi Hassan, Jagjit Singh, Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia,Ustad Sultan khan, Pankaj Udhas, Anup Jalota,Talat Aziz ,U Srinivas ,Selva Ganesh and Ravi Chary.
She belongs to the Kalavant gharana and has been trained in classical, semi-classical and light classical music and can sings Hindi film songs, ghazals, thumri, Folk, Punjabi and Sufi Music as well as Western and Pop music. Runa Rizv got married with percussionist Sivamani on 10 November 2014. Runa Rizvi is inspired by Mehdi Hassan. She has sung most of the celebrated poets of the past and present times.
She had sung for the Rajshri film Uff kya jaadu mohabbat hai along with Kunal Ganjawala. She sang a song, jaane tu for movie Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na.In 2011, Runa had rendered playback for the film Provoked starring Aishwarya Rai.
Currently she is working on her album with "NEW LIFE "band & an interesting project hat amalgamats Jazz with Ghazals. She is also working with Prem Joshua and band for their new album Luminous Secrets.
