Rex Vijayan Biography 
Rex Vijayan is a noted musician and music composer of Kerala. He is the lead guitarist for the popular Malayali rock band Avial, which created great sensation among the youth in the recent times. He also scores music and back ground score for Malayalam movies since early 2010s. He is also the solo music composer of Malayalam movies like Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi, English: An Autumn in London, Sapthamashree Thaskaraha and Chaappa Kurishu. He also composed the title song Thanaro of National award winning movie - North 24 Kaatham. Avial brand composed songs of Second Show. Rex composed Background score for 22 Female Kottayam, Second show and Friday. The segment ‘Bridge’ of anthology film - Kerala Café marked his career as an independent film composer.
Avial, the alternative rock band which blends Malayalam lyrics with rock music was formed in Thiruvananthapuram in 2003 by a group of youngsters. The group consists of Anandraj Benjamin Paul – the lead vocalist, guitarist Rex Vijayan, Tony John – backing vocalist, drummer Mithun Puthanveetil and bassist Naresh Kamath. Their first single was released in the year 2003 - "Nada Nada". Very soon this band became popular among youngsters and scored music for many albums and singles of movies. Paul and Kamath departed in 2008 and new members like Binny Isaac and Neha Nair joined later. "Aana Kallan" and "Chillane" for 2011 movie – Salt and Pepper made them the most popular band of Kerala. They are regular with stage performances too.
Rex Vijayan was born in Kollam in 1982 to Malayalam music director, Albert Vijayan. A self-taught musician Rex was drawn towards music at a younger age. Before the formation of Avial band, he was the guitarist of Motherjane band of Kochi.
