Reghu Kumar Biography 
Reghu Kumar is a popular music director of Malayalam cinema in the 1980s, best known for the hit songs of Shyama and Thalavattam. Boeing Boeing, Hello My Dear Wrong Number, Kanakkinavu, Aryan and Maya Mayuram are other memorable hits. He composed music for many Mohanlal movies, the most popular being the songs of Thalavattom. Ponveene is still regarded as one of the most popular romantic songs of malayaalm cinema. Kalabham charthum and Koottil ninnum mettil vanna are other popular numbers.
Neeyen kinavo of Hello My Dear Wrong Number, Ponmuraliyoothum of Aryan, Kaikudanna niraye of Maayamayooram and Chemparathi poove and Poonkaatte of Shyama are other top songs composed by Reghu Kumar. He also composes songs for devotional albums. He is one among the talented music directors of Malayalam who was never able to reach career peaks. He passed away most recently in February 2014 at Chennai.
He was born in the prominent Pootheri family at Kozhikode in 1953. He learnt Carnatic music from an early age under G.S.Sreekrishnan and later learnt tabla as well. He also learnt sitar under Guru Vincent. Since the age of 15, he started accompanying singers for Carnatic music concerts. The following year he joined AIR and was an ‘A grade’ artist, music composer. He made an entry into the film industry as a music arranger under R. K. Shekhar (father of A. R. Rahman). In 1979 with the film 'Eeswara Jagadeeshwara' he started his career as an independent music director. He composed music for 60 movies and has also produced 7 movies. He was married to actress Bhavani, of Lisa fame.
