Reena Bhardwaj Biography

Reena Bhardwaj is a playback singer of Bollywood and Tamil movies. She became immensely popular with A.R.Rehman rhythms. She debut Tamil with Rajnikanth’s film Baba (2002), music composed by A.R.Rehman. The hit song was “Baba Kichchu” followed by “Tak Dheen” of Bombay Dreams (2003). She debut Bollywood with the melodious track of Meenakshi: The tale of two cities, “Yeh rishta kya kehlaata hai” pictured on Tabu, composed by A.R. Rehman. Till now she has sung numerous songs for A.R.Rehman in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil. She has also sung the Tamil song “Naan Epodhu” of Sakkarakatti in A.R.Rehman composition.

 

Among her Telugu songs of A.R.Rehman’s music, Puli Gharshana of Komaram Puli is most popular. Among the Bollywood songs, A.R.Rehman’s compositions – Mein vari vari of Mangal Pandey: The Rising pictured on Rani Mukherjee, Khilli re of Raavan and Yeh rishta kya kehlaata hai pictured on Tabu are most popular. Reena has been a regular collaborator with British Asian Composer/Producer Nitin Sawhney, for many of successful private albums. Such successful albums in their combinations are Human (2003), Philtre (2005) and London Undersound (2008). This eight studio album of Nitin Sawhney was released on 13 October 2008, by Cooking Vinyl. This album also included the voices of Paul McCartney and Anoushka Shankar. The tracks sung by Reena are “My Soul” and “Ek Jaan”.

 

Reena Bhardwaj is a British Indian singer, songwriter and recording artist best known for her collaborations with AR Rahman and Nitin Sawhney. She was born in London and her genres include Pop music, Film music, Traditional music and World music. She has rendered her voice in Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu and English languages. She is a trained Kathak dancer and she has started her stage performance at the age of 9. But it was her natural vocal talent that made her a popular artist of India as well as UK. She has briefly worked in corporate marketing and communications in the City of London before taking music as her profession.

 

She has also sang songs for a few compilation albums like The Best of A R Rahman, Sony Legacy (2009), Indian Sunset DJ Pathaan (2003), Life Goes On Music: Soumik Dutta, Storm Glass Productions (2009) and Aaoji: Classic Sufi Hits',' Sony Music (2009.
