Rasamayi Balakishan Biography

Rasamayi Balakishan is an Indian politician from the newly formed south Indian state Telangana. He is currently a Member of Telangana Legislative Assembly representing Manakonduru constituency, Karimnagar District in Telangana. He currently holds a cabinet rank and serves as the Chairman of State Cultural Council. Apart from being an influential politician, he is also an artist known as a singer and poet. He is the founder of Telangana Dhoom Dham, and performed on stage for the political events related to Telangana movement demanding separate state. He is a political activist too, and known for his oratory skills.

Rasamayi Balakishan hails from Raorukula village in Siddipet Mandal. His birthplace now belongs to Telangana. He was born into a poor family with illiterate parents who sing folk songs and play sappy instrument. Initially Balakishan also was a folk singer, quite popular in the local circle, before he gained popularity after entering politics. He owned a folk song troupe, Rasmayi, and later ‘Rasmayi’ tag got added to his name. He was also a teacher and balladeer before he turned active in politics.

He has been an active member in Telangana movement, and as an artist he was appointed as the head of cultural troupe for the formation of separate Telangana state. He is the founder of Telangana Dhoom Dham, and serves as its convener too. He is quite popular for entertaining audiences through his local folk songs and dances, and when he focussed on Telangana movement, he made his art and singing skills to seek the attention of the audience. In fact he performed on stage for the events associated with Telangana movement, since 2009. Later he joined TRS party as well.
