Rajkumar Dhoot Biography

Rajkumar Dhoot is a famous politician and industrialist from Maharashtra belonging to Shiv Sena group. Currently he is the Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) representing the State of Maharashtra. He is the son of famous industrialist and businessman, Nandlal Madhavlal Dhoot, founder of Videocon group of industries. His brother Venugopal Dhoot is now managing the organization as MD and director. Rajkumar Dhoot has earlier served as the president of ASSOCHAM. He also promotes Videocon group of industries and is its co-owner.

 

Dhoot graduated with Honors in Commerce from S. B. College, Aurangabad. He was active in politics and social work since his college days. During 1990’s, he initiated many projects to educate girls of rural areas of Maharashtra. He established a Girl’s High school in Gangapur, Aurangabad in 1992 which later branched to a big educational institution. He appointed only lady teachers as a part of women empowerment plans. Vittal Mandir in Gangapur area and Nandlal Dhoot Charitable Hospital are his other social contributions. He has also facilitated water supply in summer affected rural areas of Maharashtra for 2 months.

 

He first joined Rajya Sabha in the year 2002. He was a member of many committees including Standing Committee on Finance. In April 2008, he was re-elected to Rajya Sabha for a second term and in 2014, re-elected for the third term consecutively. He has also served as the President of Apex Industry body, ASSOCHAM. He also served as its Senior Vice President in 2011-12. He is a regular participant of Winter Davos Forum held in Switzerland every year. He is married to Sushma Dhoot and the couple has 4 kids.
