Rajesh Cherthala Biography 
Rajesh Cherthala is an accomplished flautist and musician from Kerala of present generation. He is quite popular for his stage performances as well as over net, and his videos in YouTube make him an immensely popular artist of present times. Currently one of the leading artists of professional music field, he is one of the top ranking Indian flutists of the South Indian music tradition and also an outstanding Western music instrumentalist. He is associated with cine industry as an instrumentalist and has worked with several leading music composers. As of now, he has worked in more than 300 films and has completed around 1000 songs.
He was born in Cherthala, in the district of Alappuzha, Kerala as the son of Dasappan and Nirmala. Since young his musical talents were well supported and encouraged by his parents. His cousin Shaji spotted and nurtured his inherent musical talent. He received initial lessons in flute from Balram, the organizer of Cochin Class Orchestra. Later he helped him to pursue a career in stage performances, as a part of orchestra. He got advanced training in flute from Sunbright Master and the Hindustani maestro Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. It helped him to perform in Hindustani style as well.
In his early days, he played for various musical troupes in Kerala. Later he got into recording field as well as film music. His initial recording in Ernakulam was conducted by the renowned classical violinist Sri. Thiruvizha Ullas, and there was no turning back after that. Apart from film songs he has also recorded devotional albums. He has accompanied many musicians and singers for their stage shows, and has conducted solo performances too. Apart from flute, he also plays wind instruments like Indian Flute, Western Flute, Saxophone, Wind Midi controller, Duduk, Recorder, Melodica, Clarinet, Penny Whistle etc.
