Rajendra Agrawal Biography

Rajendra Agrawal is an Indian politician from the state of Uttar Pradesh, affiliated to Bharatiya Janata Party. He currently serves as a parliamentarian in the 17th Lok Sabha headed by Narendra Modi and represents Meerut constituency. He was the Chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. Since 2009 he has been elected thrice to Lok Sabha from Meerut-Hapur constituency, and currently he serves his third term. He is also a businessman by profession. As a parliamentarian he is known for giving regular attendance in parliament, with a total percentage of 98.

Rajendra Agrawal was born in Pilkhuwa, Hapur district, Uttar Pradesh to Om Prakash Agrawal and Satyavati Agrawal, on 2 October 1951. His wife’s name is Uma Agrawal. He studied science, and completed his Master’s in Physics from M.M (P.G) College, Modi Nagar, Ghaziabad. He has been active in politics since his school days, and joined Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh back then. He has worked as a Pracharak from 1971 to 1984. After that till 1997 he worked as office bearer of RSS, Swadeshi Jagran Manch, Vidhya Bharti, Sanskar Bharti, Bharat Vikas Parishad, etc, thus serving the party.

In 1997 he was chosen as President of BJP Meerut Mahanagar, and his active political career took a new direction after that. BJP Intellectual and Training Cell of Western Uttar Pradesh and later its president, and Secretary of BJP, Western Uttar Pradesh etc are some of the political posts he held later. He became a parliamentarian for the first time in 2009, followed by 2014 and 2019 in a row, and over the years he has gained recognition as a popular leader among the masses.
