Rahul Nambiar Biography

Rahul Nambiar is a popular south Indian playback singer from Kannur, Kerala. He is equally successful in all south Indian languages. In 2011 he received Filmfare and SIIMA Award for Best Male Playback Singer – Telugu for the popular song, “Guruvaram" from Dookudu. He has also received two more Filmfare nominations - "Venmukilin" of 2010 Malayalam movie ‘Mummy and Me’ and the chartbuster rain song of Paiyya, "Adada Mazha Da" the same year. He was introduced to playback singing by Vijay Antony in the Tamil film Dishyum (2006). The song was "Bhoomikku Velicham"."Neeyam Thanalinu" of Cocktail is his most popular Malayalam song. This song was the no. 1 film song for the year 2011. "Adi Usha Sandhya & Ambum Kombum" of Pazzassi raja, Amruthamayi Abhayamai" of Snehaveedu, ‘Ee Raavil’ for Mulla and ‘Swapnagnal’ of Bhagya Devathaare his other hit Malayalam songs.



Though born in Kannur, he was brought up in Delhi and Chennai where he completed his studies. Currently he is settled in Chennai. He holds MBA and M.Com degrees and started his career as a bank employee. But after two years, he switched on to his dreams to become a singer and quit the job. He startedlive music shows with Sunitha Sarathy and also won the Sun TV Sapthaswarangal contest in 2001, thus fully stepping on to music career. He is trained in both Carnatic and Hindustani music and started learning music at a younger age.



He has performed in more than 400 live shows across the globe, up-to-date. He has been associated with the music band, ‘Rahlaap’ which promotes live music. Apart from film songs, he has worked for one private album and a few jingles as well. ‘Manisarma,’ the anthem of the Chennai Super Kings cricket team was sung by him.
