Pravin Godkhindi Biography 
Pravin Godkhindi is a flutist of Hindustani style. He is an electrical engineer who got success through Indian music. His father Pandit Venkatesh Godkhindi is a Bansuri maestro who is an A-grade artist of AIR. Pravin has released many solo albums, apart from jugalbandis, devotional and fusion music. This talented musician is also known as a singer, music director and composer. He plays both classical and contemporary music and is one of the most talented musicians of present era. His Kannada TV shows have made him a household name. He is the first Indian musician to experiment with an instrument which sounds like an electric guitar and a saxophone!
He was born in Dharwad, Karnataka into a family of musicians. His father Venkatesh Godkhindi is a trained musician in flute and his mother’s name is Padmaja. He received his initial training in flute from his father. In 1977 his father added an extra hole to Pravin’s flute so that he can play certain ragas effortlessly. His father has also composed many ragas and musical pieces and worked in All India Radio.
Pravin has been an excellent student in academics and he wanted to pursue a job in Mumbai or Delhi. His father insisted to take some academic degree first before pursuing a music journey and that’s how he completed his engineering degree from SDM College of Engineering and Technology, Dharwad. He believes that his education has helped him to improve himself and also hones his analytical skills.
After graduation he came to Bangalore and he was already predetermined to pursue a career in music. In those days flutists trained in Hindustani music were rare and albums were released frequently. He got a job offer from an MNC and the job interview and recording with Hamsarekha collided on the same day. He didn’t have to think twice to tear the job offer. That’s how Pravin got his magic start in music industry.
