Poonam Mahajan Biography

Poonam Mahajan Rao is a member of the Indian Parliament from Mumbai North since May 16, 2014. Poonam Mahajan Rao was born on December 9, 1980 in Mumbai, Maharashtra is a member of  Bharatiya Janata Party. She is daughter of Late Shri Pramod Mahajan and Rekha Mahajan and sister of Rahul Mahajan, who is a trained pilots and now in entertainment industry. Poonam is gran daughter of Venkatesh Devidas Mahajan and Prabhavati Venkatesh Mahajan.

Poonam Mahajan joined Bhartiya Janta Party when her father died (murdered by his own brother) in 2006,  as a normal member of the party, with the support of Late Gopinath Munde who was a Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra state. Poonam Mahajan has been elated to the post of National Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party. Rahul and Poonam Mahajan both were in the race but it was Poonam was given the priority over her brother in allocation of party ticket. Poonam mahajan is married to Anand Rao Vejandla. She is a Graduate from Brighton School of Business and Management in 2012 and has done Diploma Courses.

Poonam Majan contested the national general election from Mumbai North Central seat and won comfortably against Priya Dutt the sitting MP, daughter of veteran Congress leader late Shri Sunil Dutt, which is supposed to be one of the biggest victories in recent times. In fact her victory is attributed to her hard work she did registering new and young voters in south Mumbai.
