Piraisoodan Biography 
Piraisoodan is a Tamil poet and lyricist who writes song lyrics for films. Piraisoodan is a winner of 3 Tamil Nadu state awards for best lyrics. His lyrics for the movies, Thayagam, En Rasavin Manasile and Neeyum Naanum earned him Tamil Nadu state awards for best lyrics in 1996, 1991 and 2010 respectively. He was conferred the title "Kavi Nyaani" by great music composer M. S. Viswanathan. His younger brother R. Madhi is one of the leading new-generation cinematographers of the south Indian film industry at present who predominantly works in Telugu and Tamil film industry.
Piraisoodan hails from Nannilam of Tiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. He was born on February 6, 1956 into a big family of 10 siblings. He has 7 brothers and 2 sisters. Noted cinematographer R. Madhi is his younger brother. Piraisoodan is married and has one son and daughter. His son K. R. Kawin Siva works as a music director in Tamil film industry. He currently resides in Nesapakkam, Chennai. He has appeared in Tamil TV series in a couple of brief roles, penned lyrics and dialogues for television and films as well. this lyricist is quite famous for his eloquent literary speeches and for his ability to complete a song in few minutes.
As a lyricist he started off in the mid-1980s. Meenamma Meenamma from 1989 super hit film, Rajadhi Raja gave him a big break to the industry. Music was composed by Ilaiyaraaja. It was his single song from the album consisting of 8 songs. Since then he regularly associated with the music maestro throughout 1990s, and some of their best works include Mappillai (Veru Velai Unakku song), Panakkaran (Nooru Varsham song), Arangetra Velai, Keladi Kanmani (Thenral Thaan song), Chembaruthi, Gopura Vasalile, En Rasavin Manasile etc. Amaran, Star, Tenali etc are other major works.
