Peethambaran Menon Biography

Peethambaran Menon is the singing sensation associated with Kerala’s most popular band - Thaikkudam Bridge. The most eldest member of the brand consisting of 14 members Hitting the charts and heart with “Nostalgia”, he has rendered his melodious voice for memorable songs like Appozhum Paranjille Porandaa. The song became an instant hit on you tube and Menon received appreciation from young generations as well. The 59-year-old is now the band’s unique attraction, he sang after a long break of 30 years. The phenomenal band was formed by Peethambaran’s son Govind Menon and nephew Siddharth Menon in 2013. Govind, the brain behind the band, was instrumental in bringing the group together and the band was formed by a group of friends.

 

Govind Menon joined hands with Siddharth Menon and the band’s first show was on Kappa TV for the musical show "Music Mojo". Govind also recreated evergreen Malayalam classics and named it ‘Nostalgia’. Siddharth sang "Mandharachepundo" of the movie Dasaratham, for one of the episodes and the rest in history! The song became viral over net and the cousin brothers formed the music band – Thaikkudam Bridge, which includes many artists right now. When Govind asked his father to join the band, he was not actually prepared. Peethambaran Menon previously worked in Kerala Irrigation Department and it has been only three years since his retirement.

 

Thus Peethambaran became a part of the band, contributing in his own full-toned signature style, jamming with a bunch of young musicians. Peethambaran is often dressed in monotone shirts and dhoti and sometimes wears beads around his neck when he performs live G. Devarajan’s, Thekkumkooradiyathi was the first song he attempted. The family has a musical background and elder brother Gopinathan was a Carnatic musician who inspired young Peetambaran since young. He is a resident of Irinjalikuda, Thrissur who has participated in several singing competitions during younger days later, won the Voice of Thrissur title twice consecutively in the early seventies. He was associated with singing concerts in the 1970s.
