Padma Devender Reddy Biography

Padma Devender Reddy is a well-known politician and orator from the newly formed south Indian state Telangana. She is currently a Member of Telangana Legislative Assembly representing Medak constituency. She is the First Deputy Speaker in Telangana Legislative Assembly and currently serving this position. She belongs to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. She has earlier served as a member of Andhra Pradesh state assembly representing Ramayampet assembly constituency. Padma is skilled as a good orator and she is a quite familiar face on Telugu television as she frequently appears in political debates.

M. Padma Devender Reddy was born on 6 January 1969 in Karimnagar, Telangana. Her early education was done at her hometown and later she completed her graduation and LLB studies before she turned active in regional politics. After completing her law studies she practiced at Ranga Reddy district court and Andhra Pradesh High Court till she joined politics. She actively participated in Telangana movement, and joined Telangana Rashtra Samithi soon after the party was formed. Since then she is fully active in politics and Telangana movement.

She got active in regional politics and became ZPTC Member form Ramayampet to Medak Zilla Parishad. In 2004 she joined state assembly from Ramayampet and completed a term of 5 years. She was suspended the same year, and later taken back the following year. In 2014 state assembly elections, she defeated film actress Vijayashanti from Medak assembly constituency, and currently serving her second term as Member of Legislative Assembly. But it is her first term with newly formed Telangana state. On 12 June 2014, Reddy was elected unanimously as Deputy Speaker of the Telangana State Legislative Assembly.
