Nikhil Kamath Biography

Nikhil Kamath is a music composer belonging to Bollywood cinema and independent cinema. He along with Vinay Tiwari forms the popular music composer of Bollywood – Nikhil – Vinay, best known for soft, romantic and melodious tunes. As a film composer, the duo is best known for composing the songs of Tum Bin, with all its songs turned chartbusters. Bewafa Sanam, Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam, Aapko Pehle Bhi Kahin Dekha Hai, Muskaan and Kuch Dil Ne Kaha are a few more popular albums of the duo. They also composed the most popular music albums of Sonu Nigam - Jaan (2000) and Yaad (2001) which played an important role in the career of Sonu Nigam to become the top male singer very soon. The duo split in 2006 after being 15 years together.

Nikhil Kamath and Vinay Tiwari remained good friends before they joined music industry in the early 1990s. They both are trained classical singers. Their talent was first spotted by singer Anuradha Paudwal, who was then the top female voice of T-series. She recommended them Gulshan Kumar, who gave them the first break in their career. In fact most of their film and non-film albums were released under the banner T-series.

1991 romantic film Pyar Bhara Dil was their debut Bollywood project, and the song, "Banke Kitab Teri" became popular. The duo composed around 20 films later, apart from a few music albums. They composed the album, Bewafa Sanam which included the sad single, "Achcha Sila Diya Tune Mere Pyar Ka". The song gave a major break to Sonu Nigam. In fact the composers gave two major hits to singing career of Sonu Nigam through Jaan (2000) and Yaad (2001), and both included some major chartbusters like Tere Milna, Jeena Tere Bina, Mohabbat Kabhi Meine Kee Tho Nahin Thi, Jaane Kyon Mein Tujhko etc.

They also composed the music of Anuradha Paudwal’s Ishq Hua in 2000, which included melodious tracks like Choodi Bhi Zid Pe Aai Hai and Likh Ke Mehndi Se Sajna. In 2001, they got a major break through the work of Tum Bin, which included hit songs like "Koi Fariyaad", "Chhoti Choti Raatein" and "Tumhare Siva". In fact the hit song "Chhoti Choti Raatein" was composed years ago in the 1990s for a Shah Rukh Khan starrer, Yeh Lamhe Judaai Ke which got delayed for different reasons. Yeh Lamhe Judaai Ke got released in 2004, and the song - Tera Naam Lene Ki sung by Kumar Sanu, Sadhana Sargam was not as popular as the song of Tum Bin. The tunes had different singers and lyrics.

After that they gave music to many Bollywood films like Koi Mere Dil Mein Hai, Zameer: The Fire Within, Phir Milenge, Yeh Lamhe Judaai Ke, Nehlle Pe Dehlla etc till they parted in 2006. The duo never worked in Bollywood later, except one album, Kaash Tum Hote (2013) done by Vinay Tiwari as a solo composer.
