Nanditha (Singer) Biography

Nanditha is a south Indian playback singer who concentrates most on Kannada language. She is a veena player too. She is a recipient of Karnataka State Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer 4 times, including one hat-trick. She received hat-trick for the years 2001, 2002 and 2003 for the songs - "Bili Bannada Gini" of Gandhada Gombe, "Yede Tumbi Hadidenu" of Paris Pranaya and "Aakashake obba" of Jogula respectively. She received it for the last time for the year 2008 for the song "Baanige Bhaskara Chanda" from the movie Mandaakini. She began her playback career from the film Habba (1998) and since then she has been one of the most sought playback singers of Kannada film industry. She received Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback singer in 2007 for the song "Kariya I Love You" of Duniya.

 

Nanditha was born in 1978 in Channarayapatna. She completed Engineering degree from R V College of Engineering and was a software engineer by profession before moving to music field. Nanditha went on to cut her first-ever music album on the veena after quitting her job with Cisco. She married Rakesh, a software engineer from Bangalore in 2004. Rajesh is the son of former CSIR Director N V Raman. Her first break to movies was given by Hamsalekha. The movie was Habba released in 1998.

 

After that she established as one of the leading playback singers of the industry. She is the only female playback singer to win a hat-trick at Karnataka state awards. At present she is a well-established dubbing artist too. She has dubbed for hit films like Nanna Preetiya Hudugi and Paris Pranaya.
