Nandamuri Balakrishna Biography

Nandamuri Balakrishna is a very successful and popular film actor and politician, who works predominantly in Telugu cinema. He is the sixth son of N. T. Rama Rao, popular Tollywood superstar. He entered the film industry as a child artist at the age of 14 with the film Tatamma Kala and during middle 1980’s, he started working in male lead. Now he has completed about 40 years in the industry and is one of the most sought actors of Telugu cinema too. He has won two Andhra Pradesh State Nandi Awards and one Filmfare Award as an actor. Now he is active in politics too. He is a member of the Telugu Desam Party founded by his father. He is also the chairman of the trust board of his father's cancer hospital, The Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute, Hyderabad.

Balakrishna was born in Chennai on 10 June 1960. He entered movies in the year 1974 as a child artist with the movie, Tatamma. Later he worked as a child artist in movies like Dana Veera Soora Karna, Srimadvirataparvam, Akbar Saleem Anarkali and Sri Tirupati Venkateswara Kalyanam. In 1984 he debuted in a hero role with Sahasame Jeevitham. Mangammagari Manavadu and Shrimad Virat Veerabrahmendra Swami Charitra (1984) were among his earliest hits. In 1987, he acted in a dual role in the successful film Apurva Sahodarudu. Same year, he had 6 hits and thus he rose to the stardom. Inspector Pratap, Bharatamlo Bala Chandrudu, Tiragabadda Telugubidda, and Rakthabhisekham were among those movies.

Muddula Mavayya, Bhale Donga, Nari Nari Naduma Murari and Lorry Driver just followed those hits and he continued his successful journey throughout 1990’s and 2000’s. In 2011 he acted in a Hindu mythological film Sri Rama Rajyam opposite Nayantara. He received Nandi awards for best actor for the movies, Narasimha Naidu and Simha and Filmfare awards for Bhairava Dweepam and Bobbili Simham.
