Nama Nageswara Rao Biography

Nama Nageswara Rao is an Indian politician and businessman from the state of Telangana, affiliated to Telugu Desam Party. He currently serves as a parliamentarian in the 17th Lok Sabha headed by Narendra Modi and represents Khammam constituency. He succeeded Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy of YSR Congress Party for this Lok Sabha seat. In 2014 general elections, he was defeated by Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy in the same constituency, and in 2019 general elections he reclaimed the seat. During 2009 general elections he won the same constituency, with a majority of 124,949 votes defeating Union Minister Renuka Chowdhary. Thus Nama Nageswara Rao is serving his second term as parliamentarian, both representing Khammam constituency.

Nama Nageswara Rao was born on 15 March 1957 in Balapala, Telangana. His wife is Nama Chinnamma, and has three kids, 2 sons and 1 daughter. He was into business and ran the infrastructure company Madhucon Projects, before he forayed into active politics. When he contested Lok Sabha elections in 2009 for the first time, he was one of the richest candidates from the country, and had total assets worth over 1.73 billion Indian rupees. He also owns a good name as a businessman in Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, which also helped him to win his maiden elections against Union Minister Renuka Chowdhary in Khammam constituency.

He was fielded at same constituency by Telugu Desam Party in 2014, but lost it. However he won from the same constituency, defeating the sitting MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and thus reclaiming the seat once again. He is also a social worker, who started Nama Muthiah Memorial Trust in memory of his father, which works for the development of the local backward areas around the various projects undertaken by Madhucon.
