Mukut Mithi Biography 
Mukut Mithi is an Indian politician from Arunachal Pradesh. He served as the 4th chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh from January 19, 1999 until August 3, 2003, for a total of 1658 days. He is an incumbent Member of the Rajya Sabha representing his home state since 24 June 2014. He earlier served as Lieutenant-Governor of Puducherry during 19 July 2006 – 12 March 2008. He is associated with Indian National congress, and has served as its working committee member and president in Arunachal Pradesh.
Mukut Mithi was born in Gyangkhar Village, North East Frontier Agency in the New Year day of 1952. He is married to Pomaya Mithi and has three sons. He did his schooling from Ramakrishna Mission School, Narendrapur. Later he completed his graduation from J. N. Agricultural University, Jabalpur. He has a long term association with Indian National Congress, yet had a short stint with Arunachal Congress before he returned back to the parent party. He formed Arunachal Congress-Mithi after breaking from Arunachal Congress, but the party was later merged with Congress.
In 2006, he was appointed as Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, and remained in this position for almost two years. Mithi resigned as Lieutenant Governor to contest in the Rajya Sabha election in Arunachal Pradesh, and took his oath as MP on 4th June 2008. Bhopinder Singh later succeeded his position as Lieutenant Governor.
While studying in Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Narendrapur, West Bengal, he took active part in relief work during devastating floods in West Bengal in 1972. Some of his favourite hobbies include Football, volleyball, tennis, badminton, table tennis, reading and singing. He serves as a member of Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Finance since 2012.
