Mohammed Aslam Biography 
Mohammed Aslam is an Indian playback singer, known for his association with A. R. Rahman. His rendition of old Rafi songs on stage also makes him equally popular, as he owns a striking resemblance to the legendary singer’s voice. As a playback singer, he is best known for the rendition of Masti Ka Paatsala and Khalbali, composed by Rahman for Rang De Basanti. The Bangalore-based singer, who was the voice behind Tamil revived version of old classic, Ponmagal Vandaal is popular for his stage shows titled Aslam Nite, a music show dedicated to legendary singer Mohammed Rafi. As his voice sounds uncannily like Rafi Sahab, there was hoax news that he is Rafi’s grandson as reported by several social media sites. He sings for Tamil and Bollywood films.
Mohammed Aslam was born in Bangalore, and he has Kerala roots. His mother is from Nadakkavu, near Kozhikode, and his wife Jesreene is from Thiruvananthapuram. He is not formally trained in music. But he grew up listening to great Bollywood singers like Kishore Kumar, Mohammed Rafi, Mukesh and Talat Mahmood, and started singing their songs since teens. Later he got opportunity to sing at wedding ceremonies and other functions. A self-taught musician, growing up singing Rafi songs it moulded the singer in him. Till now he has done thousands of concerts, in India and abroad.
He marked his singing debut in the year 1994 for the Tamil film Naattamai, singing Naan Oravukaaran. Anandham Anandham…, En Pennendru… Kettenna… and Ilamai are other noted songs in Tamil. He earned acclaim in Bollywood through the songs of Rang De Basanti, and also tried luck with Telugu music. Azeem-O-Shaan Shahenshah from Jodhaa Akbar is yet another popular song of Aslam composed by Rahman. He made his Malayalam debut with the song, Meri Asha in Monsoon Mangoes. He completed more than two decades in stage shows.
