Laxmi Chand Gupta Biography 
Laxmi Chand Gupta was an Indian physician, radiologist and writer, specialized in sports medicine. He served as director of Medicine at the Border Security Force and published over 100 medical books. He wrote the most number of medical books in 2005 and 2009, which is indeed a world record. For his contributions towards medicine and science, Government of India honoured him with the fourth highest civilian honour - Padma Shri in 2010. He passed away the same year. Manual of First Aid: Management of General Injuries, Sports Injuries and Common Aliments, Miraculous Effects of Acupressure, Manual of Medical Emergencies and How to Live with Hypertension and Heart Attack are among his major medical books.
Laxmi Chand Gupta was born in 1939 in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. He completed his medical studies from Gajara Raja Medical College of Jiwaji University in 1966. He joined the Border Security Force (BSF) in 1966 soon after completing his medical studies. Later he took MD in Radiology in 1968 and Social and Preventive Medicine in 1972. He was associated with BSF for more than three decades till his superannuation in 1997 as the director of medicine. He also worked in Iran as a radiologist during 1975 - 1980. He received President's Police Medal in 1993.
In his medical career, he was best known as a specialist in sports medicine, apart from his contributions in the form of over a 100 medical books. He was a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences in 2006. Apart from Padma Shri he was a recipient of numerous awards and honours. He was a recipient of the most prestigious B. C. Roy Award. Lifetime Achievement Award of the Madhya Pradesh chapter of the Indian Medical Association and the SAARC Literary Award both in 2002 are other major honours.
