Narayan Sadashiv Hosmane Biography 
Narayan Sadashiv Hosmane is an Indian-born cancer research scientist who resides in USA right now. He received the coveted Humboldt Research Award for senior scientists twice for his lifelong accomplishments. He is currently the research professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the inaugural board of trustees’ professor at Northern Illinois University, Dekalb. He was the founder of Boron in the Americas and hosted the organization's first meeting in Dallas in April 1988. In 2007, he received Pride of India Gold Award from NRI Institute. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and the American Institute of Chemists. He has also been listed in Who's Who in the World. He has also been honoured with Lifetime Achievement Pravasi Award and Bharath Samman Medal by India at New Delhi.
Dr. N. S. Hosmane was born in Gokarna of Uttar Kannada, Karnataka on June 30, 1948. His schooling was completed at Bhadrakali High School, Gokarna. He took graduation in chemistry from Dr. A. V. Baliga college, Kumta. He completed Masters from Karnataka University and later obtained a Ph.D. in Organometallic / Inorganic Chemistry in 1975 from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. Later he did research training in Queen’s University of Belfast. Later he moved to USA to study carboranes and metalla carboranes. In 1982 he joined the faculty at the Southern Methodist University and became professor in 1989. He has also served as faculty in several universities later.
Postdoctoral Research Assistant at Queen's University of Belfast during 1974–1975, Research Scientist, Catalysis Section, Lambeg Industrial Research Institute of North Ireland during 1975–1976 followed by Research Associate at Auburn University and University of Virginia, Assistant Professor at Virginia Tech and Southern Methodist University and full time professor at Southern Methodist University are the major positions held by N. S. Hosmane. Presidential Research Professor, Distinguished Research Professor, and Board of Trustees Professor, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Northern Illinois University are the other senior positions held by him.
