Lakshmi Manchu Biography

Lakshmi Manchu is an Indian film actress, singer, model, producer and a television host. She is the daughter of actor Mohan Babu and Vidya Devi. She has acted in the American Television series Las Vegas and Desperate Housewives. In 2006, she acted, directed, and produced a short film “Perfect Lives” that was shown in La Femme Film Festival in Los Angeles. Anaganaga O Dheerudu is till now, the best memorable performance of her career as an actress. For the negative Role in Telugu movie - Anaganaga O Dheerudu (2011), she won Nandi Award for Best Villain, Hyderabad Times Film Awards for Best Actor in a Negative Role and Best Supporting Actress award in CineMAA Awards 2012.

Lakshmi became a popular name since she acted in American Television series Las Vegas. She played the role of Sarasvati Kumar, the love interest of James Lesure.  In this television serial, she worked aside great stars like James Caan and Sylvestor Stallone. Lakshmi was born in Chennai on October 8, 1976 as the single daughter of actor Mohan Babu. She has done Bachelors in Theater from Oklahoma City University before she stepped into American television. Las Vagas was telecasted during the period 2004 to 2007 where she appeared in 11 episodes. She appeared in 3 episodes of Desperate Housewives, aired in 2008. She has also appeared in single episodes of Boston Legal (2006) and Mystery ER (2007). After returning to India, she hosted Telugu television programs - Lakshmi Talk Show, Prematho Mee Lakshmi and Luckunte Lakshmi.

She has appeared in English movies - The Ode and Dead air. Most recently she has appeared in Mani Ratnam’s Tamil movie – Kadal and Bollywood movie – Department, aside Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt. The action movie was directed by Ram Gopal Varma. She played Sanjay Dutt’s wife role in this movie. Her Telugu movies are Anaganaga O Dheerudu, Uu Kodathara? Ulikki Padathara?, Dongala Mutha and Gundello Godari. She has produced a few Telugu movies as well.
