Kashinath Biography

Kashinath is a noted actor and director of Kannada film industry. He is regarded as a trendsetter of Kannada movies. As a director, his Kannada movies are Aparoopada Athithigalu and Aparichita and he has directed a couple of Hindi movies as well; Anubhav in 1986 with Rakesh Roshan and Shekar Suman and Be-Shaque in 1981 with cast, Mithun Chakraborthy, Ambrish and Yogeeta Bali. As an actor, Ajagajantara, Kempu Surya, Sura sundaranga, Amara Madhura Prema, Adrushta reke, Avale nanna hendti, Mithileya Seetheyaru, Anantana avantara, Taayi gobba tarle maga and Avane nanna ganda are a few of his Kannada movie list.

After graduation, Kashinath started his career as a film director. Aparoopada Athitigalu in the year 1975 was his debut movie. He made the movie borrowing money from his father and the movie was a hit too. His second movie was released in 1978, a suspense thriller Aparichita. The movie starred Suresh Heblikar and Sunderkrishns Urs in lead roles and this movie too was a box office hit. This movie was praised as a trendsetter. He directed the same movie in Hindi titled Be-Shaque in the year 1981 starring Mithun Chakraborty and Yogeeta Bali in the main lead. He has directed 16 movies till now and most of them have been box office hits.

As an actor, he debut in the year 1984 with the movie, Anubhava where he acted aside Abinaya and Umashree. It was the debut movie of V. Manohar as a music director and its hit songs including Hodeya doora o jothegara gave him a good break to the industry. Anubhava was remade in Hindi two years later as Anubhav and the movie was directed by him. Avale Nanna Hendthi, released in 1988 was one of the top movies during 1980’s. He has acted in more than 40 movies in his career and one of the popular heroes of the industry.

Kashinath was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in mid 2017 and he died on 18 January 2018 from a cardiac arrest. He was 67 years old.
