Kaizad Gustad Biography

Kaizad Gustad is a Hindi film director and writer, best known for 1998 Bollywood movie, Bombay Boys and his debut novel Of No Fixed Address. Though this director is known for critically acclaimed movies, he has been surrounded by a few controversies as well. The death of Nadia Khan, a British-Pakistani from London on the first day of her shooting for his movie and exactly on its 6th anniversary, finding guilty for "rash and negligent act" under Section 304-A of the Indian Penal Code are among those cases. He spent one month in jail. Most recently in 2013, Kaisad has announced his next project, a sex comedy - Baghdad Calling Saddam. He is also working on a masala entertainer Auto Bhagwan. He is also known as the director of soft-porn movie, Boom (2004) which marked the disastrous debut of Bollywood star, Katrina Kaif.

 

He was born in Mumbai in 1968. He was raised by a healthy Parsi-Iranian family from Mumbai and Wadi, a village of Karnataka. He studied at a boarding school in Darjeeling. He, along with his family moved to Sydney at the age of 16 and Film making became his passion. He chose to become a professional traveller and work on film sets delivery tea and snacks. He also did odd jobs like pizza delivery boy. His debut and critically acclaimed book, Of No Fixed Address in 1998 was loosely based on his life journey during this period.

 

His first full-length feature film Bombay Boys was made by collecting money from his friends, family and relatives. He took 4 long years to complete this movie and the movie got released in 1998, which starred Naveen Andrews, Rahul Bose, Naseeruddin Shah and Tara Deshpande in pivot roles. ‘Bombil and Beatrice’ and Jackpot are other releases.
