Jolly Abraham Biography 
Jolly Abraham is a playback singer associated with Malayalam and other south Indian languages. He has said good bye to playback singing about 15 years ago, but has given several melodious numbers to music lovers. But he is still active with Christian devotional songs, and now settled in Chennai. He has sung more than 100 songs, mostly in the decade of 1970s and 1980s and has also appeared in a few movies like Aattuvanchi Ulanjappol, Kilinjalgal and Aakramanam. He has also sung a few Tamil, Telugu and Kannada songs.
Jolly was born in Kumbam of Ernakulam district. His parents recognized his talents while studying at Thevara School and sent him to learn classical music. He learnt under 2 Gurus. It was for a school drama that he sung for the first time, that too in the female voice as he was very young. Song was Thaliritta Kinaakkal Than. He completed graduation from Sacred Heart College Thevara and was a glowing star in college competitions and was a college hero. He won first prize for singing at University College competitions. In those days, whole colleges of Kerala were under a single Kerala University and two students from each college across Kerala were selected for the final round at Thiruvannathapuram.
After appearing in numerous music concerts, his singing career began as a devotional singer. He got his first recording offer for HMV, where he got opportunity to record 2 devotional songs with K. J. Yesudas. Jayikkaanaay Janichavan of Chattambikkalyaani was his first song as a playback singer. Later he sung for Kunjikkaikal, Omanakkunju, Parivarthanam, Madhuraswapnam, Daaliya Pookkal, Panchami, Paarijaatham, Penpuli, Aparaadhi, Sneham (1977) etc. It was a time when K. J. Yesudas was the glowing star of Malayalam music industry. Later he received less opportunities from cinema and continued with devotional songs.
