Jagannath Mishra Biography

Dr. Jagannath Mishra A former Congress leader, is an Indian politician who has been Chief Minister of Bihar and a union cabinet minister.  Dr Mishra was elected Chief Minister of Bihar on three different ocassions.  After leaving the Congress party he joined Sharad Pawar's NCP and now is in JDU.  Dr. Jagannath Mishra is married and lives in Patna with his wife currently. His elder brother, Lalit Narayan Mishra was Railway Minister of India.

Mishra began his career as a lecturer and later became professor of economics at Bihar University. He was involved in the Bhoodan Movement, started by Saint Vinoba Bhave, between 1953 and 1960 and gave up most of his inherited land to the landless.

He has written about forty research papers and guided twenty PhD Dissertations on Economics. He has also authored and edited a number of books. Dr Mishra has written about forty research papers in reputed journals and guided twenty Ph. D. Dissertations on Economics.
