Haimanti Sukla Biography 
Haimanti Sukla is a highly acclaimed singer and classical vocalist from Kolkata, West Bengal. For Bollywood music fans, she is familiar with the masterpiece classical number, Kaha se aaye badra of Chashm-e-Buddoor and she sang this evergreen song with legendary singer Yesudas. The music was given by Raj Kamal and still remembered by classic music lovers.
Sukla is an accomplished classical singer born in a musical family. Her voice has been appreciated by many doyens of Indian music like Pandit Ravi Shankar, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi and Ustad Allah Rakha. She has also done playback singing for a few Bengali film songs and has been honoured with many awards including Bangla Chalachitra Prashar Samiti Best Singer award, Bangla Chalachitra Purashkar Samiti award and Mian Tansen Award. In 2005 she received Kalakar for best music album.
She was born into the very musical family of Pandit Harihar Sukla and brought up in a musical atmosphere. She received early training from her father and she used to observe him keen while he performs. Haimanti received her early training in khayal thumri and bhajan, which provided her solid base to take all forms of music including Hindustani classical music. Her first recording was done in the year 1970 and ‘E to kanna noy aamar’ was the song. Till now her name is counted among the dynamic Bengali singers.
Ogo Bristi Amar Chokher pata, Ekhono Sarengi ta Bajchhey, Amar Bolar Kichu Chhilona, Ei Madhu Rari jeno, Ar Jeno Sedin, Tomay Pey Sab and Eka Eka Thaka are a few among her noted tracks. She is equally versatile in singing light music as well as classical ones and renders ghazals and devotional bhajans as well. Her playback singing started in the year 1974 under Shyamal Mitra.
