Ghulam Ali Biography 
Ghulam Ali is a versatile ghazal who has dominated the industry for a few decades or so. Many of his popular ghazals have been used in Bollywood movies, particularly during 1980’s. Those hit songs list include – Chupke chupke raat din, Kiya Hai Pyar Jise, May Nazar Se Pee Rahahoon, Kal Chaudhvin Ki Raat Thi, Ye dil ye pagal dil mera, Apni Dhoon Mein and Hungama Hai Kyon Barpa. His style and variations in singing Ghazals has been noted as unique and is always regarded as one of the rich ghazal singers of 20th century. He blended Hindustani classical music with his ghazal compositions, giving them a new treat.
Ghulam Ali was born in a Muslim family in the village of Kaleki in the Tehsil Daska Sialkot District of Punjab. His father was a vocalist and a sarangi player and it was his father who supported him a lot to become a singer. Ali's father named him after Bade Ghulam Ali and when Ali was 16, he got opportunity to learn from Bade Ghulam Ali. It was through a strange incident which Bade Ghulam Ali made him his disciple though having tight schedule. He was trained mainly by Bade Ghulam Ali Khan's three brothers who taught him classical music as well as Thumri.
Ghulam Ali started singing for Radio Lahore in 1960. Along with singing ghazals, he used to compose Hindu bhajans too. Those bhajans were unique as he used scientific mixture of ragas, though compositions based on Ragas. He beautifully sings Punjabi songs too and has a huge collection of popular Punjabi songs. He was as popular in India as Pakistan.
His entry through Bollywood was through Chupke chukpe raat din aasu bahana song of B.R.Chopra’s Nikah released in the year 1982. His ghazal ‘Yeh dil ye pagal dil mera’ was used for 1990 movie Aawargi. He has sung songs penned by Nasir Kazmi, Raees warsi and Hasrat Morhani. His ghazal Patha patha bhootta bhoota has been used in Bollywood movie Mausam. A few of his hit songs include - Patta Patta Boota Boota, Mehfil Mein Baar Baar, Kaisi Chali Hai Abke Hawa, Kal Chaudhvin Ki Raat Thi, Baharon ko Chaman, Barsan Lagi Sawan Bundiya Raja, Chamakte Chand Ko Tuta Hua Tara Bana Dala, Apne Dhun Mai Reheta Hun Mai Bhi Tere Jaisa Hun, Hum Tere Shahar Mein Aaye Hain, Mera Kya Tha Tere Hisaab Mein and Yeh Batein Jhooti Batein Hain.
