Diana Penty Biography

Diana Penty is a successful model and actress of Bollywood. Her debut movie opposite Saif Ali Khan – Cocktail (2012) was a box office hit. The movie was a romantic love triangle, with Deepika Padukone filling it. Her performance earned her nominations for best debut and best supporting actress at most of the award ceremonies including ETC Bollywood Business Awards, IIFA, Star screen awards and ZEE Cine awards.

Diana Penty was born in Mumbai on 2 November 1985 to an Indian Parsi father and a Christian mother. She did her schooling at St. Agnes High School in Mumbai and did her college studies at St. Xavier's College in Mumbai. She holds a degree in mass media communication. She sent her photos to Elite Model Management India. They liked her photos and suggested to take assignments. Her first project as a model involved walking on ramp for Italian designers, Trussadi and Ferre during the Indo-Italian Festival in 2005. She continued modeling in Delhi and Mumbai and has worked with top designers such as Rina Dhaka, Rohit Bal and Wendell Rodricks.

Penty rose to fame when she replaced Deepika Padukone for Maybelline. Very soon she got Garnier India assignment as well. Her ad for Virgin Mobile, alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Genelia D'Souza also helped a lot to bring her to limelight. Diana was to debut Bollywood with the movie ‘Rockstar’ opposite Ranbir Kapoor. Due to her modeling commitments she couldn’t accept the offer and the role subsequently went to Nargis Fakhri. Its director Imtiaz Ali recommended her name to Homi Adajania and she got her first movie Cocktail, aside Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone. While Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone played modern roles of western culture, Penty played the role of a traditional Indian girl. Her next door girl look was well appreciated and all critics praised for her easy portraying of the role also. Penty is currently the Indian brand ambassador of TRESemme and Nokia and she appears in several fashion magazines frequently too.
