Ranbir Kapoor Biography

Ranbir Kapoor is an Indian film actor who concentrates in Hindi film industry. He belongs to a family of filmy background and he has won several awards for his performance. With many megahit films, he has established himself as one of the leading actors of Bollywood.

Ranbir Kapoor was born on 28^th September 1982 in Mumbai in Maharashtra. His father’s name is Rishi Kapoor and his mother’s name is Neetu Singh. He is the grandson of Raj Kapoor. He has one sister named Riddhima Kapoor Sahni. He completed his schooling at Bombay Scottish School in Mahim in Mumbai. Then he wanted to learn acting and so went to New York and joined The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute there to learn the method of acting.

He first appeared before the screen for the short films Passion to Love in 2002 and India 1964 in 2004. He then started to work as an assistant director to Sanjay Leela Bhansali. It was Bhansali who gave him opportunity to act in his film Saawariya with Sonam Kapoor. Though he was appreciated for his acting skills and earned his first Filmfare award, the film was not very successful.

He acted in three movies in the year 2009 namely Wake Up Sid, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year. He got a breakthrough after his performance in the highly successful film Rajneeti in 2010. His biggest hit to date is Barfi! in 2012.

He has been dating the actress Deepika Padukone for a while but the relationship broke off in 2009. He hosted the 54^th and 56^th Filmfare Awards with Imran Khan and 57^th with Shah Rukh Khan. He is living in the Pali Hills region of Mumbai with his parents.

Some of the films that he has acted include Saawariya, Bachna Ae Haseeno, Wake Up Sid, Luck by Chance, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Rocket Sing: Salesman of the Year, Rajneeti, Rockstar, Chillar Party, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, Bombay Velvet, etc. He received NDTV Indian of the Year Award and Male Entertainer of the Year Award in 2010.
