Chhotu Ram Chaudhary Biography

Chhotu Ram Chaudhary is a prominent and senior Indian politician associated with Bharatiya Janata party, and currently a parliamentarian too. He got elected to Lok Sabha in 2014 general elections representing BJP, and currently serves as a minister in the central government led by Narendra Modi. He serves the position of Minister of State in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution; and Minister of State in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. He assumed office on 12 July 2016. As an MP he represents Nagaur Constituency in Rajasthan. A former IAS officer, he served as Director Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation from 2000 to 2011.

Chhotu Ram Chaudhary, also called C. R. Chaudhary hails from Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Dhandhlas of Nagaur taluka is his residential place. Chaudhary was born in a traditional Marwari family as the son of R.L Chaudhary and Gavri Devi. He married Mala Chaudhary in 1958 and the couple has two children. He holds Master of Arts Degree in Geography. After completing his studies, he got into teaching profession. He started his professional career as a college lecturer in 1971 and has worked in many colleges throughout 1970s till got selected to Rajasthan Administrative Service in 1978.

Since then he held many administrative posts within the state government of Rajasthan. S.D.M, Additional Collector & Additional Magistrate are some of the major positions held by him. Later, he worked as Head of Department & Director in Lotteries in the 1990s, and a few more posts till his retirement. He was also promoted as an Indian Administrative Service officer. After his retirement from public service, he got involved with politics. He got elected to the 16th Lok Sabha as a BJP candidate, and currently holds a position as Minister of State.
