Brahm Sarup Singh Biography 
Brahm Sarup Singh was an Indian musician who was an exponent of Vichitra Veena in the 20th century. He has been a regular performer in All India Radio, Jalandhar since 1958 starting at the age of 18. He was honoured with the title of "Abhinandan Patra" by the Navrang Kala Sangam, Patiala. Noted Vichitra veena artist Anurag Singh is his son and his foremost disciple too. Keshav Talegaonker, Meena Aggarwal, Kuldeep Singh, Ram Krishan (Guitar), Neeru Bala etc were among his best disciples. He lived during the period, 18 August 1940 – 19 January 1998. He died at a comparatively young age of 58, while he was fully busy in his musical journey.
Brahm Sarup Singh was born on 18 August 1940 in the city of Amritsar, Punjab. He belonged to a musical family. His father Harnam Singh was a noted musician and a disciple of Ustad Abdul Aziz Khan, who introduced young Brahm to the strings of music. He started off with Hindustani vocals from his father. Later he got interested in string instruments and studied sitar first, followed by vichitra veena, a rare musical instrument. He also learnt guitar and tabla. Yet he mostly performed in Vichitra Veena throughout his career.
He completed many professional degrees related to music. He took Sangeet Bhaskar (Master’s in Music) in sitar, Sangeet Praveen (Master’s in Music) in vichitra veena, Sangeet Visharad (bachelor in music) in vocal classical, and Sangeet Prabhakar (bachelor in music) in vichitra veena. Thus he was a prominent musician who mastered a wide range of musical instruments. He performed in many music concerts across India, and was also a regular performer at All India Bhaskar Rao Music conference organized by Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh. He also showcased his talent in musical shows for Doordarshan.
