Bindu Subramaniam Biography 
Bindu Subramaniam is an Indian-American singer, musician and song writer. She is the daughter of legendary violin artist L. Subramaniam and his first wife, Viji Subramaniam – a member of Ravi Shankar’s family. Her mother Viji was also a successful vocalist and thampuru player, who performed aside her husband and also for a few concerts for her uncle Ravi Shankar. Bindu is the granddaughter of famous Hindustani vocalist Lakshmi Shankar, who was married to Rajendra Shankar, brother of legendary sitarist Ravi Shankar and contemporary dancer Uday Shankar. Thus she is related to a great artistic family. Bindu has three siblings of whom Ambi Subramaniam is following his father’s tradition and Gingger Shankar is an international musician and singer associated with Hollywood. She is the stepdaughter of famous Bollywood singer Kavita Subramaniam.
Born into a musical family, she inherited music from her parents and started learning at a younger age. She was brought up in US. She lost her mother at a younger age and later her father L. Subramaniam married Kavita Subramaniam, who is also associated with music. She shares a good rapport with Kavitha. Bindu started learning music at a younger age and performed her first concert at the age of 12. Since then she has got opportunity to perform with several internationally acclaimed artists. Pandit Jasraj, Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna, Pankaj Udhas, Hariharan, and Remo Fernandes are among the Indian artists with whom she has performed.
Bindu is also known as a musician and song writer. In 2011 she released her debut album in English titled Surrender. The album which included 10 tracks received a nomination for Best Pop/Rock Album at the prestigious GiMA. Her name was also listed among 12 Gen Next Achievers.
