B. R. Patil Biography

B. R. Patil is an Indian politician from the state of Karnataka who currently serves as a member of Karnataka legislative assembly. A 3-term MLA, he currently represents Aland Taluka in Kalaburgi District. He was formerly a Member of Legislative Council. He belongs to Indian National Congress and was earlier associated with the regional party, Karnataka Janatha Paksha. He served as MLA during 2004–2008 and 1983–1988, and currently serving his third term since 2013.

Bhojaraj Ramchandrappa Patil hails from Sarsamba village in Aland taluka, Karnataka. He was born in the year 1949. Born as the son of revolutionary leader Ramchandrappa M Patil and his wife Gangabai R Patil, he was their third son. His father is best known for his rebellions against Nizam’s rule, who didn’t leave the state even after Indian independence. Bhojaraj lost his father at the age of 2. Later his mother had to face a lot of hardships to bring up the kids. She was a religious woman, though not literate and young Patil was influenced from his mother a lot. Children were brought up in a religious atmosphere with lessons of good moral values from their mother.

Another influence was his maternal uncle Sharannappa Patil of Keshegaon who was also a revolutionary and politician. He became a father figure to young Patil and also taught his leadership qualities. Patil was very active and naughty during his childhood with good observing powers. Since younger days, he was keen in solving the problems of villagers.

He was earlier associated with Karnataka Janatha Paksha, and his entry to Congress party was initially opposed by Congress politicians. For his political survival and improving his sagging image, he was in search of a strong political platform, as others accused.
