Axl Hazarika Biography

Axl Hazarika is a youngster music composer and film maker from Guwahati, Assam. He is the first industrial/avant-garde (Industrial rock) artist from Northeast India. Hazarika made his official VEVO debut on 27 June ’13. VEVO is a joint venture of Sony Music, universal Music and EMI. Music video of hit song, ‘Hum Badal Gaye’ was also released at this occasion. Dead call, released in 2006, followed by Electrokore (2008 and 2009), Sacrifice, Maha Kali, Jai Shiva Shankara and B-Deshi are her previous albums. His first released solo album ELEKTROKORE comprised the first Assamese metal song ever-‘Joi Aai Axom’. Other tracks were Maathrbhoomi - A Call For Peace, Life and Was I Waiting For You.

 

His band is titled ELEKTROKORE which consists of members, Axl Hazarika as  Vocals / Guitars / Music Composer, Keng Bhattacharya as Vocals, Shantu Das and Raju in Guitar, Ryan Hazarika in Bass and Biswa Borah in Drums. This band formed at Guwahati currently works from Delhi. Features of metal, avant-garde, electronic, industrial metal, some trance and some dark-wave brought these artists together. They write lyrics in English, Assamese and Sanskrit languages which include some kind of social message to be delivered to the listeners.

 

Axl Hazarika started composing music since he learnt first 3 chords of music. His first EP was released in 2008 at a time when metal music was not so popular in India. But it received a good feedback from Indian listeners. Later he released songs belonging to this genre. Maatribhoomi (in dedication to the victims of Assam bombings), Jai Shiv Shankara (Sanskrit slokas fusion) and B-deshi (the issue of illegal immigrants in Bengal), to name a few. In 2012, Hazarika released an animation film titled Hum Badal Gaye.
