Anup was born into a Christian family in present-day Telangana. In his childhood he wanted to become a businessman. He was introduced to the musical world with a 150-rupee old guitar he bought from his friend. Though he was learning music and has been a part of church choir, this guitar proved to be the turning point of his career. Later he learnt piano and got struck to music. He also learnt key board and drums with amazing ease. The compositions of Ilaiyaraaja, A.R. Rahman and R.D. Burman inspired him a lot. Anup was not bad at studies and pursued his love for music secretly. But he was not a bright student too.

As a composer he started off with jingles around year 2000. He scored the jingle for the Vilan baniyans, for which he received rupees 2000. He put that money to buy a new music instrument. His first break to industry was given by Teja by a couple of movies, Jai (2003) and Dhairyam (2004). After 10 years, he had a handful of Telugu projects and the peppy number - “Kali-kali ankhen” of Houseful was a chartbuster.
