Antara Chowdhury Biography 
Antara Chowdhury is a singer and music composer from Bengal. She is the eldest daughter of renowned music director Salil Chowdhury and Sabita Chowdhury. Her Bengali nursery rhymes are very popular. She started singing and composing at a very young age. Like her father, apart from Bengali movies, she is also associated with Malayalam movies. Sanjoy & Antara Chowdhury composed the songs of 2000 musical Malayalam movie, Ingane Oru Nilapakshi. The tunes were noticed for its distinct style and rendering. She is also associated with Hindi and Tamil songs, apart from Bengali.
She was born to legendary music director Salil Chowdhury and playback singer Sabita Chowdhury as the eldest daughter. She has two brothers and one sister. Salil Chowdhury was earlier married to Jyoti Chowdhury. She stunned everyone when she recorded the beautiful song 'Teri galiyo.n mei.n hum aayee' for the film 'Minoo' with Manna Dey at the age of 7. Now she is a household name for Bengalis through the Bengali nursery rhymes. Salil too has given some beautiful nursery songs through Antara’s voice, more than 25 songs. She is well trained in Hindustani classical music and western music. She is now known as a talented composer and arranger, apart from a pianist.
Though she got instant success and fame through nursery rhymes, it was a difficult task for her to get out of that image. But she managed it well too and known as a leading composer of present times.She started recording songs in 1977 as a child singer. Bulbul paakhi moyna tiye, Ek je chhilo dustu chhele, Khukumoni go sonaa and Na dir dir na are some of her earliest recorded songs.
