Anindo Chatterjee Biography 
Anindo Chatterjee is an Indian musician who plays tabla. He performs tabla in Farukhabad gharana. He is the nephew of well-known sitar player, Debiprasad Chatterjee. His younger sister, Smt. Keka Mukherjee, is a leading sitar player of AIR. Anindo is one of the prominent disciples of Pt. Jnan Prakash Ghosh. Till now he has done solo performances and recordings, and promoted the musical form by his own means. Chatterjee has already worked with some of the leading sitar players of the country. He received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for the year 2002.
Anindo Chatterjee was born in Kolkata on 30 May 1954. He belongs to a family with strong musical traditions, and many of them are percussionists associated with the musical instrument Sitar. Yet Anindo chose tabla as his medium to express music. He took music lessons from Pt. Jnan Prakash Ghosh, one of the prominent tabla artists of the country. He started learning music at the age of 5. He was inspired by his uncle, Pandit Biswanath Chatterjee.
After his studies, he has accompanied many artists for their performances. Pandit Ravi Shankar, Shahid Parvez, Mallikarjun Mansur, Nikhil Banerjee, Hariprasad Chaurasia, Buddhadev Das Gupta, Ali Akbar Khan and Gangubai Hangal are some of the doyens of music with whom Anindo has performed. He has also released a few records in collaboration with artists like Hariprasad Chaurasia, Ram Narayan, Budhaditya Mukherjee etc.
He currently serves as director of the Farrukhabad Gharana of Tabla, founded by Haji Vilayat Khan Saheb, and also teaches many students. He is the first tabla player to perform in the House of Commons, and also got opportunity to perform before Obama in Rashtrapati Bhavan on his India visit in 2010.
