Ananya Chatterjee Biography

Ananya Chatterjee is a leading Bengali film actress and television actress. She is known for her role as a muse of a married director in Abahoman, for which she won National award for best actress in the year 2009. Her character name in this movie was Shikha and the movie was directed by Rituparno Ghosh. Her noted films include - Tak Jhal Mishti (2002), Raat Barota Paanch (2005), Aamra (2006), Dwando, Mama Bhagne (2009), Abohoman (2009), Meghe Dhaka Tara (2012) and Probhu Nashto Hoye Jai. Her noted television serials are Subarnolata on Zee Bangla, Kokhono Megh kokhono brishti, Purbopurush, Nana Ronger Dinguli, Kon se Alor sopno niye etc. She started her career through telefilms and serials and had added numerous popular ones in her name.

Ananya was born and brought up in Kolkata. She completed her schooling in G.D.Birla Centre For Education. Later she joined Jogamaya Devi College, where she took Biology as the main subject. She had formal training of dancing from Mamata Shankar's dance institution. She was studying in this institution when she first got opportunity to join television. Din Pratidin, where she was paired with Rudranil Ghosh happened to be her first work. Later she appeared in many soap operas like Tithir Atithi, Aleya, and Ananya. She became a household name very soon. Then she got opportunity to act in a few telefilms of which a few became immensely popular. John Johnny Janardan, Ek Din Darjeeling and Amar Baba directed by Anjan Dutt and Adim Ripu by Byomkesh Bakshi are among those.

Ananya marked her debut in movies through the movie, Tak Jhal Mishti (2002) directed by Basu Chatterjee. She has also appeared in movies like - Raat Barota Paanch, Angshumaner Chhobi, Aamra, Teen Kanya, Meghe Dhaka Tara, Iti Mrinalini, Laptop, Bhalo Meye Kharap Meye and Dwando.
