Amrita Kak Biography

Amrita Kak Jhunjhunwala is a popular playback singer associated with Bollywood. She is the daughter of veteran politician from Rajasthan, Beena Kak who is also known as a character artist of Bollywood. Amrita’s family is closely associated to super star Salman Khan’s family and she regards Salman as her Rakhi brother. Amrita regularly sings for Salman Khan movies too. In fact her mother made her late entry to Bollywood playing Salman Khan’s angry mother in 2005 movie, Meine Pyar Kyon Kiya, followed by God Tussi Great Ho and Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute To Love. Same movie marked Amrita’s singing debut too.

 

Amrita has sung for Salman movies like Meine Pyar Kyon Kiya, God Tussi Great Ho, Ready, Wanted, Bodyguard etc. The peppy number "Just Chill" for Meine Pyar Kyon Kiya in 2005 marked her singing debut. Character Dheela from Ready and Desi Beat from Bodyguard are her other popular songs for Salman Khan movies. In 2012 she sang the popular song Umeed for Karishma Kapoor's comeback movie - Dangerous Ishq. In her wedding held in 2010, Salman danced at the Sangeet and performed the bride’s brother’s duties at the Wedding. Amrita got married to Riju Jhunjhunwala who is the Joint Managing Director of Rajasthan Spinning and Weaving Mills in May 2010.

 

Amrita’s mother is a prominent figure of Rajasthan state politics who is a four-time Member of the state Legislative Assembly and has served as minister of tourism and other departments. Her brother Ankur who is a trained chef runs a restaurant chain in Jaipur. Her mother is also an excellent cook, apart from being a good actress and politician. Her aunt Kamla Bhasin is a writer and feminist activist. Her parents are separated.
