Amit Sana Biography 
Amit Sana is an Indian singer and musician who turned a music sensation in 2005. He was the finalist of India’s first singing reality show based on user’s votes – Indian Idol season 1, aired on Sony TV. Though he lost the final to his fellow contestant Abhijeet Sawant he became immensely popular, and also received a lot of fans, after the huge success of the debut season of Indian Idol. It was an Indian version of Pop Idol format, and for the first time in Indian television history, when winners for the next round were chosen purely based on audience’s sms/votes. Amit released his first solo album Yaadein in 2008 and it remained very successful. After appearing a few more reality shows and releasing one more album, Amit Sana faded from the memory of everyone.
Amit Sana hails from Bilai, a city in the district of Durg, Chhattisgarh. Amit was a simple boy when he appeared in the first season of Indian Idol, and he was a hot favourite of its celebrity judges – Farah Khan, Anu Malik and Sonu Nigam. After the first few episodes of the show, Abhijeet Sawant, Rahul Vaidya and Amit Sana remained the hot three favourites of everyone, and they reached top 3 as well. Though Amit lost to Abhijeet Sawant in the finals, he became a household name among Indian viewers, and gained fans across the country.
After the show, he received more musical shows and he remained quite successful. But surprisingly for the next one year he was jobless. He did stage shows in India and other foreign countries, and released two albums as well. His first album, Yaadein with the chartbuster hit “In Lamhom Ko Kaise Zinda Karoon” brought him to limelight once again. He released his second album, and also made appearances for a few singing reality shows as a celebrity contestant. He also tried music composition in between. But in true sense, just like his career didn’t take off.
Just like his fellow contestants, Abhijeet Sawant & Rahul Vaidya who also received an excellent platform through Indian Idol, apart from a few music concerts and a couple of albums, he couldn’t succeed in playback singing. Same is the case of all those singers associated with the first season of the show. To add – singers like Shreya Ghoshal, Sunidhi Chauhan, Kunal Ganjewala and Arjit Singh who received a good singing platform through singing shows in television, later went on to become immensely successful in playback singing, especially in Bollywood.
He is married to interior designer Manisha Sana and currently preparing for a career as a playback singer. He wants to bring about a change in the society and has strong opinions on politics and current affairs. He is an avid reader.
