Amit Jethwa Biography 
Amit Jethwa was an environmentalist and social worker, who was shot dead by two assailants (contract killers) on a motorbike on 20 July 2010. In November 2013, CBI arrested BJP MP Dinu Solanki in connection with this murder. However he is out on bail and is making efforts to maintain his political supremacy in coastal villages of Kodinar. Amit Jethwa was known for his activities in the region of Gir Forest near Junagadh, and he had filed several court cases against illegal mining in the protected area. One of the main respondents related to the case was the well-known politician Dinu Solanki who was later arrested for the conspiracy. When Amit Jethwa was killed High Court complex of Ahmedabad in 2010, he was only 34 years old.
Amit Jethwa was born on 31 December 1975 in Khambha, Gujarat. His name is also pronounced as Amit Jethava. As an environmentalist and social worker, he was associated with many campaigns and was active in fighting against encroachment of forests and poaching. In fact he was instrumental in the five-year jail term of actor Salman Khan for shooting an endangered Chinkara deer. He also highlighted the use of a Chinkara deer in a scene in the Bollywood movie Lagaan, and he questioned a stay decision by a Bhuj court on actor Aamir Khan. He has unsuccessfully contested state assembly elections once.
He also fought against corrupted forest officers from government service. Mysterious deaths of lions in Gir Forest in 2007, Right to Information Act for addressing grievances in 2008, filing Right to Information Act to know more about an illegal mining lobby operating in the protected forest area just outside the Gir Forest National Park in 2008, PIL petition questioning the state government's "inaction" over the appointment of a Lokayukta in 2010 etc are some of his public activities, before he was killed at an early age.
