Ajay Maken Biography

Shri Ajay Maken son of Shri C.P. Maken and Smt. Santosh Maken born on 12 January, 1964 in Delhi is prominent leader of Indian National Congress. He is married to Smt Radhika Maken on January 21, 1991, the couple is blessed with a son and two daughters. Ajay Maken has a degree of B.A. from University of Delhi. He was President of Delhi University Students Union during 1985-86.

Ajay's grandfather, Shri. Om Prakash Maken was a freedom fighter and Shri Lalit Maken his uncle was a trade union leader. Under the guidance of his family members Ajay Maken came into politics and was later elected as the President of Delhi Transport Corporation Trade Union.

He has also served as Ex-Speaker of Delhi Assembly and Cabinet Minister for Power, Tourism and Transport Government of Delhi. He has been appointed as Congress president of Delhi state by the Congress leadership to infuse new confidence in the party in Delhi. The Congress party expects that with his vast experience and clean image he will be able to bring Congress party back on track.

Ajay Maken has served as-

Ajay Maken has a deep interest for Environment and Ecology. He has a keen interest in internet, reading non-fiction books and watching science fiction movies, listening to old movie songs etc. Ajay Maken is a widely travelled person. He was selected for the best MLA award in 1998-99. Among some of his reforms he is credited for implementing transition of public transport to CNG in Delhi.
