Afzal Yusuf Biography 
Afzal Yusuf is a budding musical composer of Malayalam movies. He is visually handicapped. He made his film debut as a music composer through the movie Chandranilekkoru Vazhi in 2008, which was widely appreciated. 1993 Bombay, March 12, Parankimala, Ithu pathiramanal, Orange, God for sale, Calendar and Emmanuel are his other noted works. He is a skilled keyboard artist who began playing with local professional bands during his school days. Top Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam entered Malayalam through the music composition of Yusuf. The song was 'Chakkaramavin Kombath' for the movie '1993 Bombay, March 12'.
Since high school he was an expert in keyboard and played with some local bands. He entered film industry as a keyboard player and later became a keyboard programmer. He worked as an assistant under music composer Bijibal for some period. Once he got opportunity to compose music for a song for the Society for the Rehabilitation of the Visually Challenged as a part of a fund-raising programme. When the song was aired on a television channel, director Lal Jose got impressed by his work. He got opportunity for the first time through ‘Chandranilekkulla Vazhi’, in 2008 and the assignment was offered to him by its film producer Jolly Joseph who was among the audience for the show.
Mammooty film, '1993 Bombay, March 12' proved to his real career breakthrough. His songs were well praised for this critically acclaimed movie. 'Chakkaramavin Kombath' sung by Sonu Nigam was well noticed. He recorded the song at Sonu's studio in Mumbai. He recorded the song 'Gandharajan', for the 2009 film, ‘Calendar’ with K. J. Yesudas. He also does background score for movies like Immanuel and God for sale, the first visually challenged background scorer of Malayalam movies. For Afzal, blindness is his real strength.
