Adam Avil Biography

Adam Avil is a rock artist and lead guitarist of the rock band – Pralay formed in the early 1990s. It was active for one decade or so and included 5 members. It was first Indian band to be released with International Label Sonic Wave International Chicago. Previously called Greek this Indian rock band included the founding members - Eddie Avil, Luke Kenny, Joy Dattagupta, Ulysses Veyra, Brian Soans and Victor D'souza. Eddie Avil is his brother.

 

Anurag Kashyap movie Paanch was loosely based on this popular band. Paanch’s manic protagonist Luke played by Kay Kay was inspired from Adam. Kashyap hung around with his band manager Hermito Fernandez and researched its characters for his movie. But the controversial movie never got released, due to its violence, the depiction of drug abuse and bad language.

 

Pralay’s first ever concert was conducted at Rang Bhavan in 1992. Urban Reality, Pralay and Keep on Fighting are their released albums. Their debut album ‘Urban Reality’ was shortlisted for Grammies in 2003 World Music Category. They toured Russia in the late 1990s and performed on Russian Channel TAN TV. Led Zepplin, Metallica, Doors, Pink Floyd and U2 are his inspirations. The band’s work collaborated Indian classical with traditional rock and was quite appreciated.

 

The band Pralay has more than 60 original songs to their name and has made a global impact with their videos. Some of their notable tracks were remixed by guitarist Brian Soans. Currently Adam is busy with his album. In 2013, he along his brother composed music for critically acclaimed Bollywood movie – Sixteen. ‘Ishq Actually’ is their latest release.
