A. C. Moideen Biography

A. C. Moideen is a senior politician and cabinet minister associated with LDF Kerala for more than 4 decades. In 2016 state assembly elections, he successfully conducted from Kunnamkulam constituency of Thrissur district. He defeated C.P. John of CMP (John) by a majority of 7782 votes. He was previously elected to KLA in the bye-election held in the year 2004, defeating minister of electricity, K. Muraleedharan. In 2015 A.C. Moideen has been re-elected district secretary of the CPI (M) for the third time. He hails from Wadakkanchery, Thrissur and is fondly called by his admirers as A. C. Sakhav. A first term MLA, he currently serves as minister of Corporation and Tourism. It’s for the first time since the formation of Kunnamkulam constituency, an MLA received the cabinet minister power.

 

Moideen was born in Wadakkancherry of Thrissur district in the year 1956. He completed SLC from his native village and later became a social worker. He entered politics through SFI, students’ political group during his younger days and later served several noted positions such as Member of Thrissur district committee, executive committee member of Kerala Karshaka Sangham Thrissur etc. He served as the president of Kallampara Milk Marketing Co-operative society for 10 years and President of Thekkumkara Grama Panchayat during the period 1988-1990.

 

This veteran leader is known for his simplicity. He is the elder son of Chiyamu and Fatima Beevi. He is married to Usaiba Beevi and the couple has one daughter. While he was associated with KSF, he was a regular visitor at Panangattukara village library to read newspapers. Later he got associated with the library for many years. Slowly it paved his way to politics. He gained state wide attention for the first time when he defeated cabinet minister K. Muraleedharan in the bye-election held at Wadakkanchery in the year 2004. In 2006 Assembly elections he retained his seat in the same constituency, winning by a majority of more than 20,000 votes.
