Rarest Of Rarest Songs Of Rajesh Khanna - Mukesh Combination

It’s a known fact to everyone that Kishore Kumar is the ghost singer of Rajesh Khanna and it’s very difficult to differentiate between these two or imagine them as two distinct entities. Before the surprise pack of Aradhana, Mohd.Rafi’s voice was used most for Rajesh Khanna. Even in the movie too, songs like Bahom mein bahaar hai and Gunguna rahe hain bawre were sung by none other than Rafi saabb. In fact, the rest songs were also reserved for him though destiny brought Kishore Kumar and Rajesh Khanna together. Most recently I have noticed that, despite the huge success of Kishore Kumar - Rajesh Khanna combination in Aradhana, Mukesh’s voice has been used in a quite few movies of 1970’s! Isn’t it a surprising fact to take challenge of using Mukesh’s voice for Khanna? Yes, it is. And it was successful too, though such experiments were not recreated again. So, let me give a list of such rare gems of Mukesh-Khanna combination.

Meine tere liye hi saat rang ke (Anand): What a beautiful song of this movie, just like 7 colours of a rainbow! The movie ‘Anand’ of 1970 directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee is a classic and considered as the best performance of Rajesh Khanna. The songs sung by Mukesh have attributed a lot to the beauty of this film a lot.

Kahi door jab din dal jaye (Anand): No doubt, it’s the favourite of all Mukesh fans, and Rajesh Khanna fans too! The song is just a beautiful single string that touches our hearts. This super hit movie of Rajesh Khanna has a speciality. Though mentioned about a lover of Anand, she is not shown anywhere and without a leading heroine, the director and actors of the movie were able to deliver a big hit. In this song, we can see the broken heart of Anand expressing his agony, when his girl friend left him as he was a cancer patient.

Jis gali mein tera ghar na ho balma (Katti patang): A beautiful romantic song pictured on a lake. We can see Rajesh Khanna rowing the boat for Asha Parekh and the song is sung in a slow romantic mood.

Yes, these three songs are just amazing. Let me add 3 more, though not big hits as the above three – Dil Sambhaltha nahi of Raaz (debut movie), Zubaan pe dard (Maryada – 1971) and Phool aahista pheko (Prem kahani). Yet I wonder why, this combination was not later reused in creating magic in a new experience???
