Rains and monsoon! Rain is the best shade of romance and Bollywood is so craze in capturing romantic songs in rain too! Bollywood has given some sizzling rain numbers as well. It was a time during 90’s when directors can’t imagine a movie without a romantic scene soaked in rain.  Let us see the best romantic rain songs of Bollywood.

Pyar hua ikraar hua: The icon of love – Raj Kapoor and Nargis. If best romantic songs are named, no one can keep away from this lovely romantic song of Shree 420. Two lovers in an umbrella in the monsoon – a beautiful romantic moment to watch onscreen!

Aaj lapad jaae: Smita Patel is always famous for offbeat movies – a significant part of parallel cinema. Yet Smita Patel proved it wrong with this particular sizzling number with Amitabh Bachchan in the movie Namak Halal.

Tip tip barsa pani: Perhaps it’s the most romantic song ever pictured on screen since 1994. If we talk about rain songs, this particular song from Mohra always comes first, no doubt! Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon were dating that time when this movie was released. Alka Yagnik’s mesmerizing and expressive voice also did a lot to make this song memorable.

Sasom ko sasom se: The most romantic song of the blockbuster movie ‘Hum tum’, pictured on Rani Mukherjee and Saif Ali Khan became popular for its song picturization too. It showed romance in a new way.

Koi ladka hai: Though this song is remembered for its lovely choreography and lovely music it is a good romantic song too, though not expressed by the lovers – Madhuri Dixit and Shah Rukh Khan.

Rim jhim gire sawan: Lovely composed by R.D and pictured on Big B and Mausmi Chatterjee, this particular rain song from Manzil is the best instance to prove that rain can be pictured in such a beautiful way, not as a sizzling number.

Rhim jim rim jhim: Another R.D Burman composition pictured on Anil Kapoor and Manisha Koirala. All songs from the movie 1942: A love story were huge hits, including this romantic rain song.

Sawan barse: Though the movie was a big flop, this romantic rain song of the movie Dhahak, showing the long waiting restless of Akshay Khanna and Sonali Bendre surely deserves a special space in the rain songs of Bollywood.  

Jo haal dil ka: Let me mention a song of super star Aamir Khan also in the list. This sizzling number belongs to 1999 movie Sarfarosh; heroine – Sonali Bandre.

Kyom bekhudi si: Hum ho gaye aapke was a big flop at box office. But the movie is remembered for this wonderful title track.

Though not pictured as duets, rain songs like Taal se taal mila of Taal, Mere khwabom mein of DDLJ, Ithar chali of Koi mil gaya, Ek  ladki bheegi bhagi of Chalti ka naam ghaadi, Bhage re man of Chameli and Barsore mekha of Guru are also so special. Songs also Ithar chala of Dhoom, Laga laga prem rog of Meine pyar kyon kiya and Dekho dekho bearish of Yeh dillagi are also good romantic rain songs.
