It was a long dream for me to do rafting somewhere finally my wish got fulfilled when one of my friend asked to make a plan to go to Rishikesh just for rafting. I accepted it and finally we two moved to Rishikesh in our own car on 13/04 at around 1:00 PM as we both took half day leave from office. It took around 7 hours for us to reach Haridwar that too because we stuck in traffic jam at Mohan Nagar - Ghaziabad otherwise the whole way is good and has less traffic. We booked a room there just nearby “Har ki paudi” a famous place in Haridwar. As there was no crowd there we got the room in just 500 Rs for one night. After booking room and leaving the luggage in the room we went to “Har ki Paudi”and took dip in Ganges. Water was too cold even in summer. Then we took dinner near by a dhaba it was good and not much costly.
In the morning we moved to Rishikesh which is just 20~25 Kilometers away from Haridwar. It’s good place to see because the water of Ganges is lot cleaner than what it is in Haridwar. Just we were about to enter the city we saw a hoarding on the shop that they give packages for camping and rafting. From there we booked our ticket for rafting. They took us to Shivpuri in their own vehicle along with the other members which were supposed to be in the same raft with us. They allow maximum of 12 people including 2 trainers in the raft. From Shivpuri we were taken to the bank of Ganges and the scene from the bank was so scary as the flow of water is so good but may not be so high that it is in the rainy season but still we all were scared as we rafting for the first time in our life. Trainer gave us the life jacket and the helmet and gave us the instructions how to row the boat. And from them we started rafting and there came around 5~6 rapids in whole stretch of around 16 Kilometers and some were like as if the raft will topple down but it did not happen. It was so fun in the whole stretch it took around 2 hours for us to come to the end point somewhere near Laxman jhula which is the famous place in Rishikesh. It was so scary in whole way of rafting but of course it was so fun that I would go there once again.
